Stumbled on this gem of a location! Sat at the bar by choice. Our bartender was exceptional! Great with suggestions and very timely. Apps & dinner were mouthwatering! A phenomenal spot to treat yourself to a fine dining experience.

Second time here and was even better than the first. Absolutely love this place; the food, the service and the views can't be beat. Didn't expect to be able to say this, but the prices are also extremely reasonable for the area. Had the mussels as an app and the pork chop as an entree...mind-alteringly delicious. I wanted to go back again today but my wife won't let me. We will always make it a point of stopping in whenever we're in Cape Elizabeth/South Portland area. Highly recommend.

I don't want to get into the service issues that we experienced because I'm thinking that our experience is not the norm. My veal and my wife's haddock were excellent, well seasoned and visually pleasing.

We were a party of 4~our first visit to North 43 Bistro, but not our last!! What a delightful experience. Jack, our waiter, was certainly a pleasure~charming, accommodating, & efficient. Our food was delicious. Only feedback~the Pork Chop was a bit dry. The Tuna & the Haddock were tasty and all dishes were plated nicely. The cornbread was a perfect addition. And, we enjoyed a bottle of Viognier to complement the meal. The view of the harbor at sundown was an added plus. Who could ask for more?!

We dined here for the first time a couple of days ago and everyone loved it. We were a party of 4 including 2 elderly folks. Our server was phenomenal and definitely made sure things went smoothly. The food was delicious. We started with mussels and focaccia bread. The mussels were amazing and the broth was perfectly seasoned and great for dipping the bread! We had haddock and swordfish and finished the meal with vanilla cake. Everything was delicious. The view out over the water was beautiful. We will come back again for sure!

Visiting from out of state and totally enjoyed our Happy Hour into Dinner experience with our local parents. Cocktails were yummy. Everyone raved about their dish (Smash Burger, Swordfish, and Halibut), and the Chocolate torte and cheesecake topped off the night. We sat outside on a beautiful June afternoon. (Note: tables do not have umbrellas.) We had a new server, and she was perfectly attentive and professional. The reservation system they use was simple to use, and when I called and left a message with a question, they called back less than 30 min during open hours. Yes, the prices are higher than most, but I never feel bad about paying for excellent food and experience. Thanks for making our last night in Maine one to remember.

Came for happy hour after a long day of travel. Staff were professional, friendly, and understanding to our relatively out-of-sorts state of being. The smash burger was one of the best things that has ever graced my lips, you’re doing yourself a disservice by not selecting this from the expansive and exciting menu. Our server, Jack, kept us well served and entertained, going above and beyond to look after our needs - all with grace, charm, and a sense of humour. Great vibes and view from the back patio!

We had 2 experiences at this amazing restaurant in 1 weekend. First was a delicious lunch out on the deck on a sunny Thursday in October. Delightful mussels and a MOJO pork sandwich for him. Saturday was the wedding and it was perfect! From the food to the service to the fabulous weather, we could not have asked for anything more! It was exactly what our daughter envisioned, small, personnel and planned inside of 8 weeks! Stephanie was so accommodating and made sure everything was perfect. The food and drinks were enjoyed by all, but the oysters were particularly incredible straight from the Darmariscotta River. The location offered beautiful views, plenty of parking and a relaxing environment. Highly recommend for small gatherings and events. Thank you North43!

We sat on the patio overlooking the harbor and had a delightful lunch. Liam was our server, he was very nice and pleasant, checking back several times to see how things were or if we needed anything. Lunch was delicious! I had the blackened chicken sandwich with a side salad. The pineapple combined with the spicy pepper jack cheese provided just the right amount of hit and sweet combined. The salad vinaigrette was wonderful! My husband had the pork sandwich with spicy fries. He said the pork was very tender and the sauce was terrific! For dessert we shared the Black Forest cake, all I can say is it was fabulous!

We brought seven kids into 43 N. at the last minute, and the experience was absolutely phenomenal. The service was impeccable, and the food was even better. What truly stood out was the owner coming out from the kitchen to be exceptionally kind to the children, in a way that very few gourmet restaurants ever do. This thoughtful gesture made our night. Highly recommend!

First time here. We arrived rather late (8 pm) and was seated immediately. Staff was friendly and attentive. Tha food was OUTSTANDING!!! The executive chef should sell his polenta in 5 gallon buckets!!!!! The Pork chop and Chicken was cooked to perfection. Excellent accompaniment came with both dishes. We finished the evening with the crème Boulay. Great experience!!!!!! We are locals and ashamed it took us this long to find them.. 🤩

North 43 held our rehearsal dinner the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. Stephane and her crew were outstanding, especially given that just prior to our arrival they experienced a major power outage. Without missing a beat, a minor change in the menu, cooking outside on grills, the dinner and service were truly outstanding. This has always been our favorite restaurant, excellent service food and atmosphere. Our guests keep raving about the atmosphere, service and food.

We had a rather last-minute opportunity to gather family over Memorial Day weekend and struggled to find a Portland venue that could accommodate a party of 18. North 43 Bistro was not only able to seat our group with only several days' notice, but gave us the most fabulous experience. Our server, Kristen, handled our table with ease even when we inadvertently threw curveballs like shifting our seats after we ordered, requesting substitutions, or a generous relative asking to group several checks together to pay for the cousins. Her service was efficient, enthusiastic, and friendly, and she really made our evening perfect. She was sincerely one of the best servers I've ever encountered. I think between us we tried all the entrees, most of the appetizers, and most of the specialty drinks, all of which were delicious. The ambiance was lovely, the view was spectacular, and we'll definitely be back...hopefully on a night Kristen is there to serve us! Thanks for a great evening!

I've worked with Stephanie on two events in her upstairs dining room -- one for 20 people and one for 32. She and her staff exceeded my expectations both times and were delightful to deal with at every phase. The dining room is private with spectacular views through the glass doors. The deck is perfect for pre-dinner cocktails and the entire experience is high-end. If you need to dazzle a group, Stephanie will make you look good.

My sister just had her wedding reception on the second floor with the balcony overlooking the water -- not only was this so beautiful, but the STAFF were what made this night so spectacular. **Andy, Alex, and Jane** really made our experience so flawless. We had a cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres, followed by a seated dinner for approx 20 guests, and the three staff members assigned to our party really made us feel so taken care of and seen. They made sure to pause service when speeches happened, then immediately swooped in with the next course. Really lovely experience all around. Thank you so much to you three and North 43 for hosting a beautiful night for us.

They were happy to accommodate a dairy free diet restriction. They successfully cooked the food in accordance with that restriction. You'd be amazed at how many restaurants do not after the request was made. I get to find out about 12 hours later that dairy was used. But! I got the chicken entree with grilled fig and sweet potatoes. It was perfect.

I’ve been here a few times for lunch & dinner and it’s always excellent. Don’t miss the cauliflower bites (they’re on both menus)! The pork tenderloin with elotes is also unreal!

A little on the pricier side, but worth it. Great ambiance right on the water. The staff were super friendly and very patient with our large group. Best Spicy Blood Orange Margarita I have ever had!

Delicious and well presented meals (especially the steak which was very tender and had a wonderful smokey flavor) and friendly staff in a gorgeous location, with views of the marina, Casco Bay and Fort Gorges. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion or a treat.

My husband and I enjoyed the lobster artichoke tart for our appetizer and it was the perfect size to tide us over until dinner. Also had an equal balance of lobster to cheese and artichokes. For dinner we had the trout and salmon. Both equally delicious and filling. Presentation of food was Beautiful too! Service was excellent !

Nice view! Friendly hostess. Delicious meals; I love the salad, especially the tasty vinaigrette. A different plate type for the salad would have been perfect more room to enjoy it.

An absolutely incredible spot that is so consistent each time! Great portion sizes, wide array on the menu and a solid cocktail menu. I think their wine list could be a bit broader with some more European wine selections but it won’t stop me from coming. The food is cooked perfectly. I had my very small wedding party here a few years ago and people still talk about the filet they had. And the views. The views are some of the best you can find in Maine!

A memorable dinner. Superior service and attention to customer's preferences to start. Then the food: mussels among the best we've ever had, and a generous portion; pork tenderloin cooked perfectly-- juicy and tender, and accompanied by rich stuffing; half chicken with a delicious sauce. Our first visit and we will be back. A discovery.

Such a great restaurant. I have a lot of food sensitivities and the chef was beyond accommodating - really made me feel welcome. I struggle to find things to eat when we dine out and I was already planning our return even before our meal was over. Food was fantastic. Great patio to relax on in the warmer months!

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough for private events (or honestly any meal!). We held an intimate wedding reception in their private event space. The view is spectacular and there is an outdoor deck guests can relax on before and after the meal. The restaurant provided all the tables and chairs, couches, and outdoor deck furniture. Unlike many wedding rentals, everything was sturdy and looked nice. The food is amazing! Many people told me it was the best wedding food they have ever had. My aunt kept asking servers for the salad dressing recipe because she loved it so much. We had an open bar and our friends loved the variety of drink options from specialty cocktails to beer. The meal evening was perfectly timed and the wait staff were exceptionally professional. The restaurant has a separate kitchen for events so the cooks can focus on your food! There is also a in house pastry chef. We ordered both a chocolate dessert and wedding cake, both of which were outstanding. I want to order another cake for my birthday because it was that good! The owner, Stephanie, was wonderful to work with. She gave us such good advice and is clearly experienced as both a chef and event planner. She was easy to get in touch with and kept notes about our preferences. Some of our guests have dietary restrictions and she was super flexible with the menu, even creating a risotto appetizer and roasted veggie platter to meet our needs. I am so thankful we chose to have our wedding reception at N43B!

We went for a birthday celebration and wanted to try this place for a while. The view was beautiful and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Our server Elliot was very attentive, professional, and friendly and helped make this night very enjoyable. The timing of the apps and entrees was perfect and while there were a couple of hiccups, the manager, Allie, was right on top of it and was very assuring that they did not take these things lightly. Their main philosophy is that the guests will enjoy their visit, which is exactly what we did. We will definitely be back and recommend this to our friends. Thank you Elliot, Allie, and North 43 Bistro for a memorable first experience.

Wonderful food and drinks. A lovely lunch on the patio. The combinations and variety on the menu is outstanding. We loved everything we tried. The beer wine and cocktail menu was amazing . I was thrilled that you could sub a salad for fries with the sandwiches. We tried a delicious fried pickle chip appetizer so tasty. We also enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip.Our service was amazing and it is so wonderful to go out for a meal and have the food drink and service to match each other. We look forward to our next outing to North 43 bistro . Big applause to the chef staff and management !

So excited to enjoy this off the charts spot. The food was what I hoped... delicious! If Woody is bartending, 100% fabulous experience. A good bartender is part of the soul of a restaurant, and he's a good one! I asked him to remember us as we'll be a regular. Don't sleep on this one, kids!

Our meal was creatively delightful last night. We went here just after they opened and were deeply disappointed. I am so glad we gave them another chance! The temperature outside was nearly to cold, but we walked over to meet with friends. The server said they had reimagined their menu last summer and I'd say it was worth the wait. The cocktails were all quite nice, though we all agreed we liked the bourbon special the most- the server offered that they could cut the maple in half for us when we asked if it would be overly sweet. That was a great choice! Each bite of the maple salmon and the scallop meals were near rapturous. We traded back and forth without ever feeling one of us was getting the lesser meal. The pumpkin quinoa chili was a lovely vegetarian option that hinted at great care in the chosen ingredients. The friendly and highly skilled server was attentive to details and didn't blanche when we asked for 4 extra skewered lemon rind and black cherries; the two that originally came with our drinks were quickly devoured and we wished to share with our friends. The upstairs was quiet enough for our conversations to be heard and roomy enough to spread out. The flourless chocolate cake was a notch above most because of the small, super rich, and slightly unusual hot chocolate accompanying it. Having a harvest moon pointed out to us by the server brought home to us that this place would be worth the walk in any weather!
